We would like to say "congratulations" to Ashleigh Brewer, on the arrival of her beautiful baby boy, Elias Volcz, born on February 4th. Mom and baby are both doing well. We wish Ashleigh, Mark and baby Elias all of the very best as they enjoy this special time together as a family. 

Application for ICCI funding - 2013

                          SECOND ROUND OF FUNDING 
Some funds remain available for 2013 projects of the Invest Canada-Community Initiatives (ICCI) component of the Global Commerce Support Program. Accordingly, ICCI will be accepting additional applications from Canadian communities and organizations seeking financial support for their foreign direct investment initiatives for the 2013 calendar year.
If your community is interested in submitting new or additional ICCI projects, please notify

 your interest via email to ICCI management, at:
OTTWA.ICCI-ICIC-BIS@international.gc.ca , no later than March 1, 2013.

District of Squamish
Local business success stories highlight the many benefits of locating in Squamish. 
A picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case of a new video series launched on February 20, 2013 by the District of Squamish, motion picture captures a story worth millions. This video series tells the success stories of local businesses representing a cross-section of industries, and all successful and thriving in part because of their Squamish-based location.

Regional District of Bulkley - Nechako

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) wishes to hire a consulting firm to prepare a Regional Skills Gap Analysis. The Project objective is to assist with employment and employment readiness in the region.

One of our EDABC Members is wanting to draft a Terms of Reference regarding the formation of a Response Team, to be utilized when responding to some concerns of businesses and to also provide valuable feeedback to the organzation, to help guide the BRE initiative. 


If your community/organization is already effectively utilizing a Response Team, would you consider contacting Carol McGillivray at bsc@saeds.ca and copy info@edabc.com to provide insight.



One of our Members is hoping to connect with an Economic Development office that has successfully created a Business Resource Centre.

Did you know that EDABC has an extensive library in resources available on our website. This includes manuals on Investment Readiness, Economic Development Structures, Economic Impact Analysis and more. Using our own resources and that of our partners we continue to add more.  Here are a couple of articles that may interest you.

Coworking brings independent workers together, but the benefits are greater than just a shared work environment. Social interaction, shared learning, and opportunities for innovation and collaboration are just some of the synergies that happen when talented people come together.

Smart phones are not only ubiquitous, but are the preferred device for users who are looking for local information. In Syracuse, N.Y., the regional EDO developed an app that connects member businesses with residents and visitors. CenterState Connect won IEDC's Gold award for Excellence in Economic Development, new media, in 2012.
