Cyberspace has fundamentally transformed the global economy. Cyberspace is the new frontier - the new domain - full of possibilities to advance security and prosperity in the 21st century. And yet, with these possibilities, also come new perils and new dangers. These threats are real and they exist today. A cyber-attack perpetrated by nations, state or violent extremist groups could be as destructive as the terrorist attack on 9/11. Such a destructive cyber-terrorist could virtually paralyze the nation.
As a result of flooding earlier this summer, we have partnered with the Economic Developers Alberta (EDA) in order to develop and implement the Economic Disaster Recovery Project (EDRP).
The Government of Alberta (Enterprise and Advanced Education), RBC Foundation, Shell, Red Cross, and the US Consulate (Calgary) have committed funding for specific work in the Alberta communities and in select BC communities.
The goal of the EDRP is to provide each participant community with relevant information and additional resources to help restore economies in the short and longer term. Project participation will help answer questions many community leaders have asked in the wake of this flood.
The first stop of the project will bring the EDRP volunteers to Crowsnest Pass, Alberta on November 13.
