Chief Operating Officer - Gold Country Communities Society

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Destination Marketing Organization Team.
As a Chief Operating Officer your duties will include:
  • Manage staff and volunteers, Team building skills is essential
  • Create Annual Budget
  • Write grants for various projects
  • Project Management, including Web Development, Visitor Guide, Trail Guide, Map, Geocaching, Hwy Signage, Vignette Management
  • Follow up reporting on projects
  • Plan events
  • Basic Bookkeeping
  • Board Meeting minute taking
  • Track and report on promotional activities, events and digital marketing metrics
  • Build and manage database of trade, media and consumers, host trade and media events
  • Produce newsletters to potential visitors and to stakeholders
  • Assist with creation and distribution of media releases as required
  • Council and Chamber of Commerce delegations
  • Social skills are considered a highly valued asset
Required Education / Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Tourism Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Promotions and Event Planning.
  • Two years’ experience with medium sized business in similar or complimentary industry
Other requirements:
  • Proficient in MS Office products; a strong written and verbal communications
  • Proficient with Social Media Platforms
  • Proficient with Sage Accounting or equivalent software
  • Proven organizational, planning and multitasking skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Solid time management skills with ability to manage time and priorities with limited supervision
  • Valid driver’s license
Regular office hours are 9:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Limited evening and weekend work is required related to events when necessary.
Starting wage is $40,000.00/annum.
This is a contract position.
