BCEDA President and CEO meets with Hon. Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology

On November 8, 2018, Dale Wheeldon, President and CEO of the BC Economic Development Association met with the Hon. Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology to discuss BCEDA activities and to identify areas where we can partner together for British Columbia.

“I am always impressed with our meetings with Minister Ralston, who appreciated the work of BCEDA and our members throughout the Province,” said Dale Wheeldon, President and CEO.  “He understands the need to work together and is keen to hear of our activities and to look at ways to work together.”

Items discussed at the meeting included:
  • 2019 BC Economic Summit
  • The recently held Western Economic Development Course
  • Economic Disaster Recovery and the Training of BC Communities
  • Local Leaders Training on Economic Development
  • Partnership with CANDO and Indigenous Services Canada on the Links to Learning event
  • Various work with the different divisions from the Ministry
  • Pending partnership between BCEDA and Public Works Canada
  • BC Economic Development Week 2019
  • BCEDA Ministers Dinner 2019 (tentatively planned for April/May 2019)

The Minister expressed a keen interest to work with BCEDA on these and other initiatives and discussions will continue with staff on various aspects of implementation.
